The CompTIA Tech+ exam domains can feel broad at first. They include IT fundamentals, databases, programming, security, and troubleshooting. When I started, I was intimidated, how could I learn it all?
What helped me organize my study was breaking it down domain by domain. I used Tech+ practice tests to focus on one area at a time. For example, I drilled only database questions one day, then switched to security the next.
On exam day, I saw questions from every domain. A few examples:
- Troubleshooting a computer that wouldn’t boot.
- Identifying an SQL SELECT statement.
- Knowing ports like HTTPS (443) and DNS (53).
- Recognizing the steps in the troubleshooting model.
Because I had practiced across all domains, nothing felt unfamiliar. My score was 720/900, and breaking study into domains was the key.
