One thing I underestimated was the CompTIA Tech+ acronyms list. The exam uses so many: DNS, DHCP, VPN, SQL, MFA. If you don’t know them, you’ll lose easy points.
I remember seeing a question that just asked what “DNS” does. Simple, but only if you know it’s Domain Name System. Another asked about MFA, and thanks to Tech+ practice tests, I had memorized it as multi-factor authentication.
How I learned acronyms:
- Reviewed SkillTestPro’s explanations daily.
- Made flashcards for the ones I kept forgetting.
- Grouped them by category: networking, security, databases.
By the time of my exam, I could instantly recall dozens of acronyms, and that definitely boosted my score.
